Burley Denies Nielsen Interest Thu 08th Feb 2001 08:32 Town manager George Burley has said he has made no approach for AB Copenhagen international Brian Steen Nielsen. Yesterday reports suggested that the 32-year-old might be a target, but this always seemed unlikely. |
Hughes Deal Later This Week Mon 05th Feb 2001 17:14 Sources in Birmingham are suggesting that a deal for Bryan Hughes may go through as soon as the end of this week. Different sources suggest different fees, but it seems as if somewhere between £2 million and £3 million is likely. |
McGreal Won't Miss the Final Fri 26th Jan 2001 07:03 John McGreal has received some good news, learning that he won't miss out on the Worthington Cup final should Town make it. It was thought that his period of suspension would be three games and that it would cover the Cardiff game, but it has been confirmed that it won't and lasts for only two matches. |
Morecambe Decision Delayed Tue 12th Dec 2000 23:08 The decision as to where the venue will be for our 3rd Round FA Cup tie, will be announced at midday tomorrow. Morecambe FC will talk with Portman Road staff tomorrow after their meeting at 6pm this evening. One possible outcome is that the game could be played at Ewood Park, as Morecambe host some of Blackburn Rovers reserve games. Watch this space for more details. |
Scowy Only Worry Fri 03rd Nov 2000 11:06 Town's only worry for tomorrow's game at Newcastle United is James Scowcroft. The Town striker or midfielder has a thigh problem, but will have a test in the morning and is likely to be OK. |
Club Chaplain Appointed Wed 20th Sep 2000 13:30 Town have appointed a new club chaplain, the Reverend Kevan McCormack. The position is an honorary one and David Sheepshanks welcomed the appointment: "I’m very pleased that Kevan McCormack has been able to take on this role, combining it with his many other responsibilities. This is an important supportive position both for the Club generally and especially for our Academy players where pastoral care is an essential component of daily life." |
Double Standards Fri 15th Sep 2000 16:03 With the Portman Road standing controversy becoming increasingly heated, TWTD thought it might be an idea to find out whether all clubs are enforcing the policy. We spoke to editors of a number of Premier League fan sites, and here's what they had to say: |
Burley Out of Memorial Game Tue 08th Aug 2000 16:40 Town manager George Burley has pulled out of Sunday's Vicki Hall memorial game at Dellwood Road, Felixstowe. Whether this relates at all to any interest in Mauricio Taricco or the any other offers reported earlier is purely speculation. Hearts, Colin Cameron's club are not playing on Sunday, although Burley may feel he's not up to a game Sunday after a day of travelling should be want to watch the midfielder or striker. Besides Burley is unlikely to miss Town's game against Fiorentina. With stories suggesting interest in Taricco plus another two players it is anybody's guess where George might spring up in the next few days. My bet is that we sign someone as yet unnamed before the Fiorentina game, with the Taricco story stretching on into the new season. Whether Cameron is mentioned with regard to Town again the next few days will reveal. |
